Red brown lentils are the most common and easy to find, have a mild earthy flavour and versatile for many recipes. The brown husk on lentils make for great fibre. They are a good source of potassium, zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6.
Red brown lentils retain its shape when cooked. Great with grains, salads, casseroles, stuffing, vegetarian burger and as dhal.
To cook: Cover 1 cup of Red Brown Lentils with 3 cups of water or broth. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 20-25 minutes or until tender.
