Sorghum is considered the 5th most important cereal crop in the world. Organic Sorghum has a hearty texture and mild, nutty flavour that works well in many foods. It is high in protein, iron and dietary fibre.
Suggested Use: Sorghum works well in many foods including salads, soups and breakfast casseroles. It can also be popped like popcorn, used as a rice substitute, or milled into flour to use in gluten-free baking.
Cooking Instructions
Stove-top Instructions:
Rinse sorghum. Place 1 part sorghum & 3 parts of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer covered for 60 minutes or until tender.
It can also be cooked in a rice steamer or slow cooker.
Soaking the grains before cooking will give a softer texture.
