Health Paradise Premium Grade Kombu is harvested from the northern sea off the island of Hokkaido whereby the further north it grows, the better the quality. Our Kombu are excellent added to beans when cooking as the minerals help to balance the protein in them and increase digestibility and also soften and break down tough fibers in beans.
Suggested Use: Add a small piece to soups, stewed vegetables, and grains as they cook. One-half of a strip to a pound of dried beans tenderizes & enhances in cooking.
Usage: Soak 10g of Kombu and 5 pcs dried shitake mushroom for 30 mins. Bring the water to boil and remove the kombu and shitake just before boiling. Use the broth for various Japanese dishes such as miso soups, broth for noodles.
