Wakame is one of the major types of edible seaweed. Sea vegetables have long been treasured in Japan as a delicious, versatile and above all nutritious food. Hand-harvested in the clear mineral-rich waters off the coast of Japan then it is washed then hung on ropes and left to slowly dry in the sun. Unlike most commercial wakame, our wakame is not treated with softening agents such as enzymes or monosodium glutamate (MSG).
It offers excellent iodine, and is also a source of calcium, magnesium, and contains Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, and K. This sea vegetable is widely used in Asian dishes, and is most often served in soups and salads, or as a side dish to seafood.
To prepare, simply wash and soak in lukewarm water for I 0-15 minutes. Drain well and rinse briefly.
For soups and stir-fries, add the softened wakame at the end of cooking to retain its subtle flavour.
Ingredients: 100% Wakame (Undaria pinnatifida)
